Events October 9, 2007
Events are added periodically, but not all events make it to the website. Remember…You can join Niche if you’d like all the details. We have lots of other things going on that you and your kidlets are missing. Hurry. There is something going on today that you would just LOVE!
OPEN GYM at Airborne Gymnastics in Longmont offers an “open gym” twice a month for homeschoolers – supervised freeplay for 1½ hours on the 1st & 3rd Fridays of most months, 1-2:30pm. http://www.airbornegym.com/
May/June/July…. Summer is prime park day time! With all our new members, it should be busy park summer. We’ll enjoy pool days and field trips. I gotta go plan some fun stuff. Join NICHE if you’d like to hear about all that we’re doing.
Past Events – Look at all the fun you’ve already missed
March and April Pool days and playdates. Knitting club and game day. We’re all anxious for warm weather park days to start up again, but we’re making the best of our indoor activities while the weather is still cool.
February Colorado Ballet – Dress Rehersal viewing of Copellia. This event allows us to see great ballet for a fraction of the cost. These tickets cost $7 per child, $10 per adult.
Colorado 14ers – Free basketball game, lunch and activities at the new Broomfield Events Center.
January
Science club
Book club – Last time the kids read Cricket in Time Square and had a wonderful time exploring literature in a group setting.
December
Mom’s happy hour – a great gathering of about 15 moms to eat yummy appetizers, look at pretty jewelry, chat and enjoy some grown-up time
Ornament decorating – bunches and bunches of kids gathered to make ornaments for our Christmas trees
Sledding – about 10 families gathered to sled at Scott Carpenter park for the best sledding day ever!
Ice Skating – families slipped and slidded their way around the ice rink at One Boulder Plaza
Usborne Book party – loads of mom’s gathered to peruse Usborne books.
Mom’s night out – Always a great time.
Longmont Open house – Longmont families gathering to create community in their city.
Christmas party - being planned right now for 12/21
Gem and mineral show – Not really an event, but there were 6 Niche families there when we arrived. It’s always a party!
Game day – oodles of kids and parents playing games together…great fun!
Just moving this comment over to my events page. I don’t have an personal experience with this group, but it sure sounds like fun!

Please feel free to share this field trip with your members and groups!!
Southwest Home Educators Association invites all home educators to take advantage of Disney’s fantastic new Y.E.S. (Youth in Education Series) classes by participating in a multi-state field trip together!
You do not need to be a member of SHEA to go on this field trip or to participate in the YES classes.
- Price per student is $109 (plus shipping and handling) – and includes a 3-day park hopper and up to TWO of the Disney-hosted YES classes.
- Family members who want to attend the park at the same group rate who are not taking a YES class may purchase their ticket for the same group rate.
- Hotel rooms have been blocked – both at the Disney Grand Californian and a quality good neighbor hotel that is the closest to the main gate.
- A variety of activities and meetings are being planned to ensure networking opportunities for home educators.
To find out more about this opportunity, please visit our website:
http://www.southwest-home-education.com
To read about Disneyland’s YES classes, and to verify that SHEA has booked classes, please visit Disneyland’s website:
http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyland/en_US/special/YES/home?CMP=ILC-YouthDLRcomYESLink
Please be advised that SHEA is not trying to make money off of home educators. There is a small shipping and handling fee added to the ticket price to cover our paypal, credit card, and postage fees. That is all.
We are just wanting to bring people together for fun field trips and positive social opportunities. What better family vacation than spending it with other home educators at Disneyland?
All input and feedback is most humbly accepted! The ultimate goal in the end is to advocate home education by example.
Mark your dates and keep checking SHEA for more information…2008 is going to be GREAT!
