Support Groups October 9, 2007
A good support group is vital to the homeschooling experience.? The support and commradare found in a good support group keeps mom and dad’s nourtured, kids gigling and families connected with their community. Since our choice to homeschool is outside the norm (but becoming so mainstream), our needs are different than our neighbors. While they are dealing with pta, we are perusing curriculum catalogs, scheduling socilization and looking for validation that our choice is a good choice for our children. All of these needs are supported within a larger homeschool community.
Northern Inclusive Colorado Home Educators or NICHE, is one such local group in this area. NICHE is centered in Boulder County, with many of its active members in the Longmont, Lafayette, Erie and other surrounding areas. NICHE has members as far away as Westminster, Fort Lupton, and Estes Park, though the vast majority of the activities take place in Boulder County. NICHE welcomes all homeschooling families, whatever their homeschooling style, parenting style, or spiritual/religious (or secular) beliefs may be. Membership is free.
